A number of letters addressed by FM Bailey to various members of his family, and to himself, are recorded from the Expedition. Although Bailey had been instrumental in ensuring that any political restraints imposed on the Expedition by the Tibetan government were overcome, he was never involved in the actual event. He was, however, a budding philatelist, and it is apparent that the envelopes which he gave to the Expedition to post enroute, were given special attention.
