1924 - Mail from the Climbing Expedition

Registered 'Bailey' letter sent from Pharijong to Scotland, dated 28th June 1924. The corner marginal blue Label is cancelled by the 'TIBET' Expedition cachet.

A number of letters addressed by FM Bailey to various members of his family are recorded from the Expedition. Although Bailey had been instrumental in ensuring that any political restraints imposed on the Expedition by the Tibetan government were overcome, he was never involved in the actual event. He was, however, a budding philatelist, and it is assumed that he pre-addressed envelopes which were given to the Expedition to post en route.
